My music featured in a movie trailer

An excerpt from my CD with violist Peter Minkler, Inner Voice, has been featured in the teaser trailer of a film.  Arvo Pärt’s riveting work, spiegel im spiegel (mirror within a mirror) is a breathtaking piece of music that creates a trancelike minimalist state from the first note.   The first 30 seconds of the piece are featured in the teaser trailer for the 2013 Warner Brothers film Gravity, directed by Alfonso Cuarón and starring Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, and Ed Harris.

You can watch the teaser trailer HERE.

Inner Voice was recorded by BSO violist Peter Minkler and pianist Lura Johnson in 2008 at Morgan State University and released in 2010 by Centaur Records.  It includes Lachrymae, Op. 48 by Benjamin Britten, spiegel im spiegel by Arvo Pärt, Viola Sonata, Op. 147 by Dmitri Shostakovich, and Viola Sonata by George Rochberg.  In this recording, Lura performs on her own personal instrument, a Steinway Model B from 1917.

Inner Voice can be purchased HERE
or download it on iTunes by searching “Inner Voice”

Have fun looking around, and I hope to see you at a concert soon…

Make sure to stop backstage and say hello!

  15. Hi Lura,
How fortunate we were in 2008 to see you perform at Carnegie not once, but TWICE !!! The Bernstein Mass was magnificent! But our favorites are your piano solos – of course we are biased. Watching your career blossom Lura, has been the greatest of joys.
