Imani Winds joins the BSO for Valerie Coleman’s Phenomenal Women. With movements dedicated to inspirational women like Maya Angelou, Serena Williams, and Michelle Obama, this work embodies the success over adversity they have achieved. American conductor Michael Stern leads the orchestra in Bartók’s scandalous The Miraculous Mandarin, penned while the composer was ill with Spanish influenza in the 1918 pandemic, and Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony, one of the composer’s most popular works.
