The BSO’s summer series kicks off with Darius Milhaud’s Le boeuf sur le toit (The Ox on the Roof), an exuberantly boisterous ballet score inspired by Brazilian popular music. Jazz-influenced works, from James P. Johnson’s cinematic Harlem Symphony to George Gershwin’s film score hit An American in Paris, close the program.
